You can do this on the fly without restarting Windows.

Using Parallels, the trick is to switch Network menu from "Shared" to "Bridged to (your choice of) Port" to enable MAC address detection and addressing in Winbox. At least, that's how it works for me with winbox running under Wine on my OS X 10.6.8 laptop. In other words, only use one network interface on your Mac. Disable Airport or connect RB ethernet, not ether1 if still default config, to wired part of the LAN to which your airport is connected. It doesn't like to find RBs on ethernet when airport is enabled/primary network connection. On Linux with wine 1.5.29 it is still a mess. Since this is working so well, I didn't see a need to have WineBottler bottle my Winbox.exe into a Mac app. I just double-clicked the winbox.exe icon and let Wine do it's thing. I realize the above quoted post referenced Linux rather than Mac OS, but I thought my Mac experience would be relevant.īTW, I obtained Wine 1.5.31 by downloading the latest WineBottler image, which includes both WineBottler and Wine-1.5.31. I can open multiple windows, copy and paste, etc. Generally, I need to transfer files from Mac to Winbox, so this is not a big problem for me.Įverything else seems to work fine. It is possible to drag-and-drop files from the Mac into Winbox, but I cannot drag-and-drop from Winbox to the Mac. For me, terminal windows inside of Winbox works fine, including deletion and moving the cursor backwards.

I'm using wine version wine-1.5.31 on Mac OS 10.7.5 without problem. As the MikroTik is unwilling to implement any native Linux tools in that space, I expect the MikroTik to take a look and issue some patches/fixes to upstream Wine developers that address that issue. All the rest of Winbox elements seems to work fine. I've yet to see these fonts rendered OK and the text input surviving deletion or moving the cursor backwards. Linux, Wine, Winbox and a terminal window within Winbox is a mess.

If you are running the dude on a machine that does not have a full fledged mail server running on its localhost it is a pain in the axx. It is disappointing that the dude will not send mail with outgoing authentication though. Wine and the dude have worked ok so far so maybe it really doesn't matter.

It would make more sense to run the dude as a true Linux service instead of though wine since It will be a service that our networks(and sleep) are reliant on. I will be converting from whatsupgold to the dude for a majority of our networks monitoring and I would like for it to be on a very stable machine. I'm about to make a Dude server out of a Linux box. Wine can be a little fluky from time to time. Linux 3.2.0-38-generic #61-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 19 12:18: x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 and Winbox get along quite nice overall but using the dude as service in coalition with wine is something that I would like to avoid. Winbox drag and drop does not work for my Precise Desktop but I always use sftp anyways so no wine uname -a On latest versions of wine (I am using wine 1.4 Ubuntu Precise) file drag and drop is working in linux
